Description of the attraction

The Museum of Maritime Glory was opened in Odessa in honor of a significant event in the history of the country, which changed it forever - “the legendary attack of the century”. The creation of the museum was an initiative of the Odessa Association of Submarine Veterans, each member of which was directly involved in the Great Patriotic War. The museum was opened on January 30, 2010. It was on this day, 65 years ago, that Soviet submariners performed a feat that went down in history as the "attack of the century." So the submarine S-13 sank the liner "Wilhelm Gustloff", which was carrying 10,582 people. Along with the ship, 1,300 German submariners, 406 sailors and officers, and 250 female military personnel perished. The sinking of this liner is believed to have caused great damage to the German Navy. In addition to military personnel, there were a large number of refugees on board, mostly old people and children. Unfortunately, they all died too.

If we talk about the museum itself, it will be interesting to visit for everyone who is interested in the history of the formation of the Ukrainian Navy. Here you can not only get involved and learn a lot of new and exciting, but also look in detail at the magnificent models of submarines that fully imitate their real prototypes. So, in honor of the opening of the museum, a model of the S-13 submarine was donated to him from the chairman of the regional council N. Skorik. Another, no less solid and expensive model of the M-96 submarine was presented by the people's deputy S. Kivalov. The management and cadets of the Odessa Maritime School named after A. I. Marinesco. After all, it is to this famous submariner, whose name the school bears, that part of the exposition is devoted to.
