Description of the attraction
In the heart of the city of Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippines, is Burnham Park - the oldest public park in the city, named after the American architect Daniel Burnham, who developed the development plan for Baguio in the early 20th century. Several narrow paths around the park lead to John Hay Camp, a former US military base in the Philippines. And from the park itself overlooks Mount Kabuyao - the highest peak in the Baguio region. Its height is over 2 thousand meters. It houses several relay centers and a private observatory that once belonged to the United States. And at the very top of the mountain is a small community of farmers. From here, a wonderful view opens up over the entire city of Baguio and the province of Pangasinan in the west. In especially clear weather, you can even see ships passing in the South China Sea.
In the center of Burnham Park there is an artificial lake, where you can ride a boat rented here. In the southern part there is a skateboarding area. In the east are the Melvin Jones Tribune and the football field, which is usually the place for ceremonial parades, concerts and political rallies. In the western part of the park, you can visit the Orchid Greenhouse with an amazing collection of plants and the Children's Playground with many different attractions. Here you can also rent bicycles, including tricycles for the smallest children. In the northern part of the park, in the middle of a wonderful rose garden, stands a monument to Daniel Burnham.
