Description of the attraction

The monument to home front workers "Tear" is located on Deputatskaya Street in the city of Kostroma. The monument is a composition of the figures of a praying woman and a child. The statue was created according to a sketch of a resident of the city of Soligalich, Rufia Simonova, as part of the national competition for the best monument to home front workers, which was announced in 2004. Rufia knows firsthand about the role played in the Victory not only by our glorious soldiers, but also by their mothers, wives, sisters, and children. During the Great Patriotic War, her relatives worked selflessly on the collective farm and replaced men who went to the front in the fields. It is noteworthy that more than 100 people from 11 to 76 years old took part in the project.

The jury chose the idea of this woman, since there is not a single monument made in the form of a tear in the world. The author of the sculpture was the Moscow architect Vadim Mikhailovich Tserkovnikov, whom local residents already knew from the local monument to Grand Duke Yuri Dolgoruky.

The monument to home front workers was unveiled at the end of summer 2006 on the square, not far from the Gubernsky concert and exhibition center. The solemn ceremony was attended by the Archbishop of Kostroma and Galich, Alexander, who noted the particular importance of the appearance of such a monument in the city, because at present, visible signs of the people's memory of people, bringing the Great Victory closer to the battlefield along with the soldiers, are very much needed.

The monument "Tear" took 10 tons of bronze. This is a seven-meter monument, in the center of which are the figures of a woman and a boy, filled with a great desire to help the front in the rear. The funds necessary for its creation were collected by the whole world. It is for this reason that two memorial plaques were erected near the monument: one of them contains a description of the contribution of the townspeople to the approach of the Great Victory, the second contains a list of sponsors and initiators of the installation of the composition.

It is noteworthy that in other cities of Russia, they are currently engaged in the installation of similar monuments. There is one in Samara, Perm, Omsk and Saratov regions. Everywhere - glory to children and women who made a very significant contribution to shortening the time of the hardest in the history of the Second World War.

A large number of school events take place near the monument, so local children are well aware of what war is. In addition, they take an active part in the Memory Route, which involves a trip to 6 districts of the region, during which children and youth take care of the monuments associated with the Great Patriotic War. Now the memories of the surviving home front workers and veterans are being collected here. For example, during the Great Patriotic War, the Kostroma Territory donated about 32,000,000 rubles to the defense fund, and the population of the Kologrivsky District raised funds for 6 aircraft, on which Soviet pilots managed to shoot down 47 fascist Messers. Now the memory of them is immortalized in the monument "Tear".
