Description of the attraction

The Central Siberian Botanical Garden is one of the coziest natural areas in the Novosibirsk Region and the largest botanical garden in the Asian part of the country.

The botanical garden was founded in 1946. In 1961 it was awarded the status of a research institute. Until 1964, the botanical garden was located in the Zaeltsovsky district of Novosibirsk, occupying an area of more than 230 hectares. In 1964, a 1060 hectare plot of land was allocated for the Central Siberian Botanical Garden in the vicinity of Akademgorodok, on which, according to the plan, expositions and collections of plants were placed. The construction of the central laboratory building, technical, industrial and other premises was completed in 1971, after which the entire team of the botanical garden was relocated to Akademgorodok. The official opening of the botanical garden took place in 1982.

The Siberian Botanical Garden annually presents its visitors with surprises in the form of regularly updated expositions. The unique departments of the Botanical Garden of Novosibirsk are a forest-park zone, an arboretum and a taxonomy, as well as collections of endangered plant species (medicinal and spicy-aromatic, food and decorative herbs). Historical photographs, the largest herbarium in Russia, which has 550,000 types of leaves, a seed collection - all this and much more attracts a huge number of people here, including not only experts in botany, but also ordinary nature lovers.

In total, there are about 5 thousand different plant species in the botanical garden. Vivid compositions of "Rocky Garden", "Garden of Continuous Blossoming", "Bonsai Park" and "Waltz of Flowers" are striking in their beauty.

The Central Siberian Botanical Garden of Novosibirsk is beautiful at any time of the year and in any weather. In winter, it turns into a wonderful place for walks, during which you can admire the snow domes of the intricate Japanese bonsai trees and visit the greenhouses. In the spring, the garden beckons with rare flowers, in the summer with clean ponds with colorful fish, and in the fall - with golden avenues.
