Description of the attraction
Lipki Park is one of the oldest and most beautiful places in Saratov, which laid the foundation for the modern city center. The laying of the garden began in 1825 around the completion of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Having planted over a thousand linden seedlings and fenced off with a wooden fence, the park was called "Aleksandrovsky Boulevard", and among the common people affectionately - "Lipki". And although there was a sign at the gates of the garden "no entry to the lower ranks and dogs", the alleys of the park became a favorite place for people of different classes.
From 1850 to 1860, under the leadership of the mayor Maslennikov, comfortable gazebos, benches appeared in the park, lighting kerosene lamps were installed, and paths were paved and flower beds were laid out.
The townspeople liked the name Lipki so much that in 1876 the official name of the park was established - Lipki.
In 1908, a wrought iron fence was made in the workshops of the Alexandrovsky vocational school according to the sketches of the artist S. Chekhonin, the heraldic sturgeon fish was included in the ornament (now restored and exhibited in the central fountain of the park). In 1906-1909, the kerosene lighting in the park was replaced by electric. In the 1930s, after the demolition of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the resulting wasteland was given away for the construction of the Dynamo stadium.
Since 1995, Lipki Park has the status of an object of historical and cultural heritage of federal significance. In 2004, a memorial stone was laid on the anniversary of the park and the Globus glass fountain was put into operation.
Now in Lipki, to the delight of children and parents, there is a playground with attractions. You can sit in cozy cafes and breathe fresh air on antique forged benches. There is also a library with a reading room and a chess club.
