Description of the attraction
The Regional Philharmonic of the city of Pskov was, is and will continue to be one of the brightest and most memorable spiritual dominants for a considerable number of generations of the city. For sixty years of its fruitful work, the audience of Pskov was presented with a global panorama of not only domestic, but also world musical culture of various eras, styles, genres and musical trends. Performances of world-famous and popular musical groups of Russia, as well as outstanding performers, for example, such as the Russian Academic Chapel of the city of St. Petersburg under the direction of Vladislav Chernushenko, the concert choir of the Ballet and Opera Theater named after M. P. Mussorgsky St. Petersburg, the State Russian Academic Ensemble called "Russia", as well as People's Artist of Russia Lyudmila Zykina.
Over time, certain musical traditions have developed in the Pskov Philharmonic, which have become highly revered, recognized and loved by the Pskov audience. One of these traditions is the holding of various music festivals.
In recent years, a festival movement has developed, which finally took the form of a festival philharmonic cycle, starting in January with Christmas musical evenings and continuing throughout February, March and April with festivals in honor of famous and recognized musical geniuses: M. P. Mussorgsky, B. S. Troyanovsky, N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov and ends as a festival cycle in the last month of the year with the so-called "Day of the Gusli" - an international festival, as well as a competition of performers playing folk multi-stringed instruments.
The creation of the Pskov Regional Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra took place in 1996. During this time, the orchestra became the leading and leading musical group not only in the city of Pskov, but also in the Pskov region, without whose direct participation not a single large-scale event was held.
At different times, high-level performers collaborated with the symphony orchestra: Vladimir Mishchuk - Honored Artist of Russia, Sergey Roldugin - People's Artist of Russia, Mark Drobinsky - cellist from France, Count Murzha - violinist, laureate of international competitions, Nello Alessi - guitarist from Italy, Olesya Golovneva is a laureate of an international soprano competition. Such eminent conductors as Alexander Razumov, Arkady Galkovsky, Morten Sorensen from Italy, Brenda Lynch from the USA have worked with the Pskov Orchestra.
The orchestra performed with great success in Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Latvia.
On the day of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the symphony orchestra, the Pskovites received a gift in the form of a performance of Verdi's opera La Traviata, which opened up new horizons in the further development of the musical activity of the city of Pskov. In addition, the orchestra has become a regular participant in Pskov music festivals: the Pushkin Theater Festival, the All-Russian Poetry Festival in honor of A. S. Pushkin, festivals dedicated to Russian music in honor of Rimsky-Korsakov, Mussorgsky, as well as the festival of Russian folk music, which is held in honor of balalaika virtuoso B. S. Trojan.
Musical groups performing folk, classical, jazz music also play an important role in the work of the regional philharmonic society. Ensembles, quartets, trios and duets successfully cope with the task of musical enlightenment by participating in festivals and competitions, as well as touring distant regions - these are instrumental duets, "Bayan Quartet", "Piano Jazz Concert", the Russian music ensemble "Pskov" performing in kindergartens and schools.
