Description of the attraction
The Chapel of San Cerni is located on the picturesque mountain slopes of the Pyrenees. Rising above the valley of Sant Julia de Loria, it is the temple of the ancient village of Nagol, famous for its unique national color, old houses made of stone and wood, a unique way of life, not spoiled by civilization.
The Chapel of San Cerni is a small Romanesque temple built with local materials. The church is fully consistent with the traditional local architecture. It has a semicircular apse and one rectangular nave. As for the double bell tower and a porch with an arcade (an uncovered platform), they were presumably added to the temple a little later.
From the interior of the church, an old altar and some Romanesque decorative details of the 12th-13th centuries have been preserved, installed under the barrel-shaped vaults of the apse.
Particularly interesting in the interior of the chapel of San Cerni are ancient frescoes depicting angels, plots on the theme of worship of the Lamb, etc.
