Description of the attraction
The activities of the local history museum in the city of Togliatti began in March 1962 on the basis of the already existing museum of the history of the region in the neighboring town of Zhigulevsk. The main direction of the museum is the history of Stavropol (now Togliatti): traditions, customs, culture and life of the region since ancient times.
Today the Togliatti Museum of Local Lore is considered the best museum of the Samara region, which stores the monuments of the spiritual and material culture of the region. The main fund of the museum is 32 thousand exhibits, of which: about 10 thousand - a collection of letters, documents and rare books, more than 7 thousand photographs, more than 5 thousand numismatics and more than 4 thousand household items. The pride of the local history museum is the collection of foreign and Russian coins, unique household items of the 18-19 centuries.
The Togliatti Museum of Local Lore often hosts festivals: "Museum Picnic", "Tatishchev Days" and the Day of Donation - a day when every visitor can contribute to the history of the city. The museum also participates in the traditional Night of Museums action, opening its doors for free visits to all comers.
The expositions of the museum are varied and very interesting. In the archaeological hall - in addition to the exhibits on the walls of the museum, there are thematic images of artists, in the hall showing the life of the peasants - there is a part of the hut into which you can enter, sit at the table and even climb onto the stove. Attention is also drawn to the reconstruction of a well-to-do citizen's room and a girl's room with a lamp in the shape of an angel, as well as a merchant's study with a massive 19th century table. All items in the rooms, including every little thing, are genuine.
The Togliatti Museum of Local Lore is the number one attraction for those who want to learn the history of the Stavropol Territory and plunge into the atmosphere of everyday life of the 18-19 centuries.
