Description of the attraction
Fischbach is a small village located in the Weinz district in the federal state of Styria. In February 2003, Fischbach was officially recognized as a health resort. Fischbach is the highest village in Styria (1050 meters above sea level). The municipality of Birkfeld is 12 kilometers from Fischbach, and Weinz is 27 kilometers away. The highest point in Fischbach is Mount Teufelstein (1498 meters above sea level).
Fischbach was first mentioned in the land register of the Diocese of Sekau in 1295. Local residents were engaged in agriculture, which was the main source of income.
In 1960, Fischbach became a tourist resort. In winter, ski lifts began to work, in summer vacationers came to enjoy the healing mountain air. In 1967, a mini golf course was built, and in 1980, tennis courts appeared.
Today Fischbach is a favorite holiday destination. People come here both for outdoor activities and for treatment. This place is loved not only for its excellent air quality, but also for its beautiful natural landscapes.
