Description of the attraction
Not far from the city of Ulcinj in Montenegro, there is a small river island of artificial origin called Ada Bojana. It appeared thanks to the ship "Merito", which sank in 1858 between two small islands. Sand and natural phenomena helped to form a new island, which is washed not only by the river, but also by the Adriatic Sea.
Today, the island covers an area of 350 hectares and is a popular resort that can accommodate about 1000 holidaymakers. But the island became famous not only for its artificial creation - on its territory since 1973 there is a nudist village of the same name "Ada-Boyana", which can accommodate 100 residents.
The local beach is another attraction of the resort, as it is covered with fine coral-shell sand, good for health. It has been established that the composition of the sand contains a variety of biologically active minerals of varying degrees, which help in the treatment of joints and bones, as well as in infertility.
The width of this beach varies and is approximately 50-150 meters in different parts of the island. The water here warms up quickly, as the entrance to the sea itself is rather shallow, which makes it possible to extend the swimming season almost until the beginning of November. The flora and fauna of the island is very diverse, filled with beautiful rare plants and animals.
