Description of the attraction
Gornja Stubica is a Croatian village located in the county of the same name. Among the local attractions, four are the most popular.
The first attraction is the Orošić Palace, which is a baroque castle of one of the noble families of Croatia. The second attraction of Gornja Stubica is the Church of St. George, which was first mentioned in written sources in 1209. Over the centuries, it was rebuilt many times until it acquired the baroque look that we can see today.
The third attraction is the memorial of the peasant uprising and the monument to Matiy Gubets, erected in 1973, which are located in the park of Rudolf Pereshin. The fourth is the Gubichev linden, named after Matiy Gubets, who was the leader of the peasant uprising in the middle of the 16th century. Perhaps this linden tree, which is more than four hundred years old, witnessed the events of that time. It was declared a natural monument in 1957, after which the tree was taken under protection.
