"Helikon-Opera" is a Moscow musical theater, which was founded in 1990. A new musical theater was organized in the capital, Honored Art Worker of Russia Dmitry Bertman.

The theater was opened in a historic building on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street, in the center of Moscow. The estate of the Glebov-Streshnevs was built during the reign of Catherine. Already in the 19th century, the estate became a theater. Italian and French actors performed here, performances of the Viennese operetta took place. At the beginning of the 20th century, a chamber stage was opened in the theater.

The theater building had to be restored. In 2009, part of the building was demolished to expand the building. In 2011, the surviving wing of the Glebov-Streshnev-Shakhovsky estate was also demolished. In connection with the restoration of the main building of "Helikon-Opera", the theater was transferred to the use of the theater hall, located on Novy Arbat.

"Helikon-Opera" shows to the public about 200 performances a year. The theater has a rich repertoire and a large troupe. The theater's repertoire includes operas by Verdi, Mozart, Shostakovich, Mussorgsky, Gershwin, Donizetti, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and many other composers.

There are more than twenty soloists in the theater troupe. More than a hundred professional musicians play in the orchestra. In the choir of the theater, graduates of the Gnessin Academy of Music and the Moscow Conservatory named after V. I. P. I. Tchaikovsky. The highly professional choir made it possible to carry out large-scale performances in the theater.

The theater's performances have received many awards. Seven times "Helikon-Opera" received the "Golden Mask" award. The director of "Helikon-Opera" Dmitry Bertman is the director of many performances, both in Russia and abroad. Bertman is known in Germany and France, Spain and Austria, Estonia and Denmark, Sweden and Canada.

Together with its leader, the Moscow Musical Theater also gained popularity. In 2000, Mstislav Rostropovich staged The Bat at Helikon-Opera. Her screening in Evian has become a big event in the musical and theatrical world.

The performances of "Helikon-Opera" are successfully held on the famous theaters of Paris, London, Strasbourg, Dijon, Santander. Since 2005 "Helikon-Opera" annually participates in international festivals: Bartok + (Miskolc, Hungary) and Birgitta (Tallinn, Estonia).

The theater's touring tours to cities in France, Great Britain, Austria, USA, Spain invariably receive a response and rave reviews from major world publications such as Le Monde, The Independent, The Financial Times, Le Figaro, Washington Post, Herald Tribune and others.
