Description of the attraction
Just walk through the center of Luang Prabang, and dozens of oncoming tuk-tuk drivers will ask you if you would like to go to the Tat Quang Si waterfall. It is indeed the most famous local landmark. The picturesque waterfall, consisting of several cascades, the largest of which falls from a height of 54 meters, is located in the Kuang Si National Park, 32 km from the city.
It is always crowded near the waterfall. Here you can see tourist groups and locals who come here with their families to relax. It is allowed to have picnics in the vicinity of the waterfall, but most vacationers choose a different pastime: in small pools filled with turquoise water, where the cascades of the waterfall crash down, it is allowed to swim. For the convenience of guests of Kuang Si National Park, wooden pavilions have been built near the pools, where you can change and leave your belongings. Since the pools are in the shade of tropical trees, the water in them is always cool, which pleases in hot weather and upset in cold weather. There are also bungee cages from which you can jump to another pool located on a lower level.
The main site, from where beautiful pictures of the waterfall are obtained, is located at the upper cascade. The road to it is quite easy, in the most picturesque places there are benches for rest. Fans of extreme sports must go up to the source of the Tat Kuang Si waterfall. The paths leading up to the top are narrow and uncomfortable and are often slippery. However, the view of the waterfall from above compensates for all the difficulties during the ascent.
At the bottom of the road to the waterfall there is a fenced area where Himalayan bears rescued from poachers are kept.
