Description of the attraction

On the picturesque slopes of the legendary Pelion, known as the abode of the centaurs led by the wise Chiron and the place where many events of ancient Greek myths unfold, many charming villages are scattered. Small settlements with traditional architecture for this region and numerous historical and cultural monuments attract with their authenticity and atmosphere of genuine cordiality and hospitality.

Tsangarada is definitely one of the most picturesque and interesting settlements that you should definitely visit. The village, literally immersed in greenery, lies on the eastern slope of Pelion, at an altitude of about 400-450 m above sea level, about 48 km from the city of Volos (capital of the nome Magnesia).

The settlement dates back to 1500. Today Tsangarda is divided into four small districts - Agia Taxiaris, Agia Paraskevi, Agia Stefanos and Agia Kiriyaki, which got their names from the churches of the same name located on their main squares. A walk along the cobbled streets of Tsangarada with an abundance of greenery and flowers, numerous fountains, beautiful old mansions and churches will give you a lot of pleasure. On the Agia Paraskeva square, there is one of the local attractions - a huge thousand-year-old plane tree. In the shade of its crown, the diameter of which is about 13-14 m, at a table of a small cafe you can relax and have a snack. However, in Tsangard you will find quite cozy taverns and cafes where you can taste traditional local cuisine, as well as a good selection of hotels and apartments where you can stay.

Lovers of long walks should definitely take a walk through the picturesque surroundings of Tsangarda. The stunningly beautiful beaches of Milopatamos and Fakistra, located in relative proximity to Tsangarada, certainly deserve special attention.
