Description of the attraction
In the Volga delta, on the Caspian peals, there are unique places where the world's largest lotus flower grows. Here, without exaggeration, are the largest lotus "flower beds" in the world. The areas of some of them reach 7 x 10 km, and sometimes even more. The total area of the Volga delta and the Caspian seaside under lotus "plantations" exceeds hundreds of hectares!
The peculiar climate and water conditions created a favorable growth regime for the lotus. The lotus leaf reaches up to 1.2 m in diameter, the flower itself is 0, 64 m. The color of the lotus is pink. The lotus in the delta blooms from July to September, and the start and end dates of flowering vary and do not coincide from year to year. Usually, this is from July 15 to September 10.
In the midst of the lotus bloom, excursion programs are organized in the Volga delta in order to look at this flower, which is sacred in many countries of Southeast Asia, enchanting with its beauty and smell. Tourists are brought to the lotus fields by boats to inspect the place where lotuses grow, the nature of the delta.
