Description of the attraction
Not far from the village of Chinadievo, in the Mukachevo district of the Transcarpathian region, there is a natural monument of local importance, the Skakalo waterfall. It was formed as a result of the release of volcanic rocks to the surface. Evidence of volcanic origin are small rocky cliffs located on the sides of the waterfall in the depths of the forest. The waterfall is fed by mountain streams of the right tributary of the Irshava, the Sinyavka River. A stone ridge crossing the wooded slope of the mountain blocks the path of the watercourse in this place, the stream breaks down from the ledges in three steps and forms a cascade of jets, as if jumping from stone to stone. This fact is connected with such a frivolous name of the waterfall - "Skakalo".
This is a tourist site, the ascent to which begins from the territory belonging to the sanatorium "Vodogray". The path to the waterfall goes along a beech grove, which is interesting in itself. Above the waterfall, the stream flows through boulders and rocks, forming many mini waterfalls. On the way to the waterfall, one can see the Carpathian landscapes of amazing beauty, surrounded by tall straight trees, which you will not find anywhere else on the territory of Ukraine.
