Description of the attraction

National Gallery, the building of which was built in 1836. in a strict classical style of pink granite, is one of the main attractions of the city of Oslo. Built by the German architects Schirmer (father and son), it has become Norway's premier art museum and an integral part of the National Museum of Art.

The best works of the era of impressionism and national Norwegian romanticism are collected here. The gallery's most famous and popular exhibit is The Scream, an outstanding work by the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. The museum also exhibits works by other Norwegian artists from the second half of the 19th and 20th centuries. Visitors can admire some of the works of Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet and Henri Matisse.

In the small museum at the National Gallery, you can buy unusual and colorful souvenirs as a keepsake.
