Description of the attraction
The Museum of the Historical Development of the City and the Sea Fleet of the city of Severomorsk was established according to the decision of the administration of the ZATO of the city of Severomorsk in the fall of October 2, 1996. On October 26, 1996, a solemn opening ceremony of the museum took place, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian fleet.
The very first year of the museum's work was the period of formation and approval of the main directions, as well as the main methods of work of the young cultural institution. Initially, the museum staff consisted of only four people, who were entrusted with the main task of collecting exhibits for the appearance of the first exhibition. In this difficult matter, the military history museum of the Northern Red Banner Fleet lent a helping hand, which donated photographs and objects for temporary use that tell about the past of the city and the development of its fleet. In addition, support was provided by many institutions and organizations of the city, and simply by residents of the city, which turned out to be especially interested in the past of their small homeland. It was thanks to the help provided to the young museum that the stands and showcases began to gradually multiply in the hall of the first exposition. Two years later, the museum received a donation of some exhibits of the famous Labor Glory Room of the builders of the fleet, which became the basis for the emergence of a new exhibition, which became a dedication to the construction of the city. Over time, the staff of the museum staff only increased.
Literally from the moment of its opening, the museum has become an important part of the cultural component of the city. The guests of Severomorsk began their acquaintance with this city precisely with a visit to the museum, which was visited by the heads of all especially important state structures not only of the fleet, but of the whole country, including representatives from the public fund, for example, Andrew the First-Called, and people's artists Vladimir Konkin and Vladimir Gostyukhin, as well as other figures of art and culture.
The first hall of the museum tells about the distant past of the small village of Vaenga, as well as about the history of the development of the military flotilla. The hall dedicated to Military Glory presents the history of the submarine, surface and air forces of the Northern Fleet during the Great Patriotic War. In the city hall there is an exposition, which includes several sections: the work of industrial urban enterprises, the history of city construction, modern activities of culture, health care, education, consumer services and a section that tells about the sports achievements of the city's residents. Here, the main attention is focused on the present of the city of Severomorsk, as well as on its recent past.
With the continuous work of the Department of Culture, as well as the international relations of the administration of the ZATO of Severomorsk, the museum has at its disposal modern technical equipment. The necessary mobile structures are installed in the halls of military glory, on which volumetric exhibits are placed; all museum showcases are equipped with spotlights specially designed for them.
The museum has a hall designed for temporary exhibitions, which displays works of graphics and painting, as well as photographs, objects of children and arts and crafts. The hall has multimedia equipment, as well as video equipment, which allows conducting thematic talks or lectures and cultural events at a high quality level.
At the moment, the museum fund has about four thousand exhibits of the main fund and about two thousand items from the scientific auxiliary. The museum has a staff of 12 people, each of whom has become a true master of his specialty. Thanks to their work, the museum annually hosts about five hundred events, 15 educational programs and cycles, 8 amateur associations and clubs.
In addition to the inherent scientific, propaganda and educational activities, the Severomorsk Museum of the History of the City and the Fleet carries the functions of a military-patriotic and scientific-methodological direction. The museum has repeatedly received awards for the education of the younger generation, as well as military work in military units.
