The house-museum of V. M. Vasnetsov, or "Teremok", as it is also called, is located in Vasnetsov Lane (former Troitsky Lane). The artist and his family lived in this house from 1894 to 1926. The house was built in 1894 according to the artist's own sketches. This is a stone house with a log annex in the form of a Russian tower, topped with a barrel roof. The molded platbands on the windows resemble kokoshniks. The windows are decorated with melon-shaped columns. The facade of the house and the stove in the house are faced with multi-colored tiles with floral designs.

On the ground floor of the house there are rooms for family members, a living room and a dining room. The furniture in the house is made to order. Sketches and drawings of the furniture were made by Vasnetsov himself. The furniture was made in the Abramtsevo carpentry workshops and the Stroganov carpentry workshops. Some items were made by the artist's brother - A. M. Vasnetsov in Vyatka. The interiors in the house are made in the style of typical Moscow houses of the second half of the 19th century.

Famous Vasnetsov's Wednesdays were held in the house. They gathered the Moscow intelligentsia, musicians and artists. Among the guests and participants were I. E. Repin, V. D. Polenov, V. I. Surikov, V. A. Serov, F. I. Shalyapin, as well as the families of patrons of the arts Mamontovs and Tretyakovs.

The artist's studio was on the second floor and was the main place in the house. Vasnetsov's best canvases were painted here.

The family house was transferred to the state by the will of the heirs. In 1953, the House-Museum of V. M. Vasnetsov. Since 1986, the House Museum has been part of the State Tretyakov Gallery. The Vasnetsov Museum has 24 thousand exhibits. These are paintings and graphics, objects of applied art and everyday life. The exposition introduces the biography, life and work of Vasnetsov.

The workshop contains the famous canvases, united by the artist into the cycle "Poem of Seven Tales" - "The Frog Princess", "Baba Yaga", "Airplane Carpet", "Princess Nesmeyana", "The Sleeping Princess", "Sivka-Burka", "Koschei the Immortal". The canvases "Fight of Ivan Tsarevich with a three-headed sea serpent" and "Fight of Dobrynya-Nikitich with the Serpent Gorynych" represent an epic, heroic theme.
