Description of the attraction
Moscow theater Novaya Opera im. E. V. Kolobova”was established in 1991. The initiative belonged to the prominent Russian conductor Yevgeny Kolobov (1946 - 2003). The idea was supported by the Moscow Mayor's Office. The new theater quickly gained fame as one of the best opera houses in Russia.
The theater has a huge repertoire. It includes classical operas by renowned composers: Verdi, Mozart and Wagner, Mascagni, Donizetti, Leoncavallo, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rubinstein, Glinka, Tchaikovsky, etc. Well-known masters of theatrical art, directors, singers, musicians and artists. The theater performances are distinguished by their creative search, innovation and originality.
The theater's repertoire is based on performances authored by conductor Yevgeny Kolobov. The Novaya Opera's repertoire includes more than seventy performances and works of the concert genre. The artistic leadership of the theater has the main principle in its work, is the highest level of performing skills of soloists, orchestra and choir.
The Novaya Opera choir performs Orthodox sacred music and cantata and oratorio works. The orchestra of the theater performs in concert halls in Russia and abroad with solo programs of symphonic music. The performances of the theater are distinguished by modern scenography and direction.
In 1997, a new theater building was built in the Hermitage garden. It has an auditorium for 660 seats. The stage, equipped with the most modern lighting technology and mechanics, allows the theater to stage productions with complex effects. The theater has its own recording studios - audio and video.
The theater annually hosts the international festival Epiphany Week at the Novaya Opera.
Theater “New Opera named after E. V. Kolobova”in 1999 was admitted to the International European Opera Community.
