Description of the attraction

In 1923, a local history museum was opened in the city of Alushta. This museum was closed and reopened three times for various reasons. At the time of closing, all the funds of this museum were transferred to other local history museums: Bakhchisarai, Yalta, Crimean. The last time the museum opened its doors again, and this happened on March 30, 1971, its name sounded like the Crimean Republican Museum of Local Lore.

This museum is located on the territory of a large Primorsky Park. He took over the Villa Modern, owned by Dr. Makhlis. The building was constructed in 1910-1912. In 1987, an extension in the form of an exhibition hall was erected to this building, in which more than 120 temporary exhibitions were held. In 2000, the museum was reconstructed, as well as its re-exposition.

The foundation of the fund collection was the collection of the museum, created on a voluntary basis. This collection began in 1966. The main activity of the museum was the identification and collection of ethnographic and archaeological documents and other materials related to the history of the city of Alushta and the entire Crimea. The work of the museum includes their scientific processing, storage, as well as their exhibiting. Today, the collection of the museum contains up to eight thousand different exhibits. The exhibition hall of the city of Alushta has rare copies of postcards, unique photographs, documents, books, testimonies of residents of the city of Alushta who participated in famous historical events, figures of various sciences and culture. These documents are valuable sources for those who study the history of the city of Alushta and the entire region.

The most interesting part of the fund collection is its archaeological part. It includes some items of the broadest chronological range, represented by various monuments of the mountainous Crimea and its southern coast.

The local history museum has several permanent exhibitions. "Aluston" - exhibits of the 5-14th centuries are presented, which were found during excavations carried out on the territory of the fortress. The next exhibition "Alushta: from village to city" shows us the history of the city, from 1768 to 1917. The exhibition "Alushta - during the Great Patriotic War" is rich in photographs, documents telling about people who took part in the fight against the Nazis. Various weapons and some of the household items that were found where the battles took place were first presented at the exhibition, since a partisan detachment existed in the city of Alushta during the war. And these items became the property of the museum. "In the kingdom of Chronos" - this exhibition has 1000 exhibits that were collected by a resident of the city of Zaporozhye and send us on a journey into a kingdom over which only the god of time rules.

The exhibition "Moment and Eternity" is presented by the works of the contemporary artist of the city of Alushta N. I. Smirnov. In his paintings, he used a method called Metaphysical Romanticism.
