What enthusiastic epithets are not awarded to the Adjarian capital - the city of Batumi. It is called international, brilliant, modern, open to the world, hospitable. And every word said about Batumi is true.

It would seem that with an abundance of affordable, inexpensive beach resorts - both ours, the Black Sea and foreign - Bulgarian, Montenegrin, Croatian - in Batumi, every summer there is a full house because of tourists dreaming of the subtropics, the gentle sun, pouring wine, Georgian delicacies, from which salivates even those who are spoiled by foie gras and oysters. If you do not know where to stay in Batumi, if you have not worried about booking a hotel in advance, seek advice from local residents, for example, taxi drivers. People here are friendly, smiling, sympathetic. And a decent hotel will be shown and advised where to dine.

For those who do not like to travel spontaneously, without careful preparation, we recommend that you explore the hotel base that Batumi has and choose a suitable area for living.

Batumi, like any large seaside city, offers its guests a variety of accommodation options - from pretentious hotels of international chains to ordinary hostels, from cute family hotels to private apartments.

In recent years, Batumi has confidently turned into an interesting tourist center with decent hotels - clean, comfortable and cozy. In the hotel base of the city, one can single out expensive hotels marked with 4 and 5 stars. They are part of large hotel chains - Sheraton, Hilton, Radisson. There are still few such elite hotels in Batumi, but everything in this city is changing very quickly.

The rest of the hotels in Batumi correspond to 3-star hotels in terms of comfort. The pricing policy in these hotels is different. When choosing hotels in Batumi, it is better to pay attention to the reviews of tourists who have already been here.

There are also hostels in the resort. Their choice is small, so you should not count on a free seat in them during the high season.

Private accommodation rental to tourists can be:

  • apartments - separate apartments with kitchen, bathroom and toilet. Most often, tourists are offered 2 bedrooms, but there are also more spacious apartments for large companies;
  • guesthouses - rooms that have a bedroom and amenities. The kitchen area belongs to all guests;
  • rooms in the house where the owners still live. This is the simplest and cheapest housing option.

Thrifty tourists know that it is better to book accommodation in Batumi 5-6 months before the planned trip. Apartments in a good location near the sea six months before the trip will cost $ 20 per day, in May, when the high season begins in Batumi, the price for them will rise to $ 40. For $ 20, you can only find a room with the owners.

Hostels start at $ 10 per night for a bed in a shared room. Hotel rooms are rented for at least $ 20. Luxury hotels have rooms for $ 700 a night.

Areas to live

The area of Batumi is small - only 19.4 sq. km. In Batumi, even transport is not needed - you can easily move along it on foot. There will be a couple of days left to explore the entire resort. A tourist who chooses accommodation in Batumi will be primarily interested in the center. There are several areas suitable for living here.

The strip along the sea in Batumi is almost undeveloped. Instead of houses and hotels, there is a green zone - a park, which is pleasant to walk in any weather. The closest to the coast is Rustaveli Avenue and the adjacent quarters. It is here that the five-star hotels of the city are concentrated. Within walking distance from them are some significant local attractions, for example, the singing fountains, the funicular, Piazza. In the area of Rustaveli Avenue, housing will be very expensive. Choose it for living if you are ready to spend a decent amount on comfort and coziness.

The area of the New Town, which is located on the coast a few blocks behind the Dolphinarium, will appeal to lovers of glamorous entertainment. Restaurants and casinos have been built for them. There are few tourist attractions here - singing fountains and a water park. However, in 30-40 minutes you can walk to the neighboring districts, where there is a cathedral and beautiful squares. Look for apartments in the New Town with a good repair and a gorgeous view of the Black Sea at affordable prices.

Another good place to stay in Batumi is the Old City, which is sandwiched between Rustaveli Avenue and Chavchavadze Street. It is renowned for its attractions, authentic atmosphere and a variety of hotels. There are hostels and expensive hotels, for example, the chic Divan. The only drawback of Old Batumi is the remoteness of the beach. You will have to walk to it, the road will take about 10 minutes. By the way, due to the proximity of the Batumi port, the beach here is not very clean.

Vacation with children

Not every district of Batumi is suitable for living with small children. The main treasure of the Georgian resort is, of course, the Black Sea. Thousands of tourists come here for the sake of it, and all the other benefits of the city are just a pleasant addition to the sea. Therefore, it is better to settle with children as close to the coast and beaches as possible, so as not to waste precious minutes of rest on a transfer.

Parents will surely like the already mentioned areas of Rustaveli Avenue and New Batumi. Choose the latter if you want a more relaxing holiday away from shops and tourist bustle.

Behind Rustaveli Avenue there is another not bad area for living with kids - this is the long Gorgiladze street. The road from local hotels to the beach will take about 15 minutes, but the dolphinarium, the 6 May park with the Pioneer Lake and the singing fountains are very close.

If you want to escape from the noisy city, then the best solution would be to settle in the suburbs of Batumi, for example, in the village of Gonio or a little further in the village of Kvariati.
