Alicante is a popular resort located in the Spanish community of Valencia. And although there is an international airport in Alicante, and from Moscow you can get there by direct flights of S7 Airlines and Aeroflot, often, especially in high season, the demand for tickets to the Spanish paradise far exceeds the supply. But do not stay without rest because of such an annoying little thing! The solution is simple: fly to Valencia, the capital of the community of the same name and the famous Mediterranean resort, and from there drive to Alicante, that is, to the desired destination. How to get from Valencia to Alicante using rented or public transport? It couldn't be easier!
Two hours by train
Every day about a dozen trains leave from Valencia in the direction of Alicante. The distance between these two cities is relatively short, so the train is an ideal means of transport to get to the desired resort in the shortest possible time.
Trains from Valencia to Alicante cover 125 km in a minimum of 1 hour 35 minutes and a maximum of 2 hours and 10 minutes. This difference in trip duration depends on the class of the train and on the number of stops on the route.
There are 11 trains departing from Valencia from Monday to Thursday and Saturday to Alicante. On Fridays, the number of trains increases to 14, and on Sundays, it decreases to 10. The cost of a train ticket on the Valencia-Alicante connection averages 22, 50 euros.
In Valencia, the train leaves from Joaquín Sorolla train station. It is a relatively new station and is designed to accommodate the high-speed AVE trains that run between Valencia and other Spanish cities. Joaquín Sorolla Train Station is connected to Valencia Metro lines 1 and 7. The train station can be reached by getting off at one of two metro stations: Joaquín Sorolla-Jesús and Bailén. There is also a city bus stop near the railway station.
The train from Valencia arrives at the Alicante-Terminal station. Not only high-speed AVE trains come here, but also commuter trains. To get from the station to the center of Alicante, you can use public transport, in particular, city and intercity buses. Metro line C6, which connects the train station with the airport, is intended for travelers passing through Alicante.
The cheapest travel option
The Valencia-Alicante buses from the Alsa carrier are a great alternative to the more expensive rail links between the two Mediterranean resorts. Buses leave from Valencia's bus station, located at 13 Menéndez Pidal Avenue, which can be reached from different parts of the city by metro (line 1, stop Túria) and city buses no. 8, 1, 79, 29, 95 and 80. First route buses from Valencia to Alicante operate daily, including holidays and weekends, at 6.00-7.00 am. The time spent by passengers on the way depends on the route, the number of stops and the type of bus. The shortest route takes 3 hours 30 minutes, and the longest - 4 hours 40 minutes. Alicante Bus Station is next to the port, just a 10-minute walk from the train station. You can get from it to the city center by metro (lines 24, C6) and by city bus # 6.
The standard Alsa bus ticket guarantees a pleasant and comfortable journey, during which you can enjoy the scenery outside the windows. The Supra Economy ticket offers many benefits. It's free magazines and wi-fi, a more comfortable place with more legroom and extra insurance. The ticket price varies from 5, 2 to 20, 85 euros.
Fast and comfortable
If you have a suitable document permitting to drive a car in the EU, then the easiest way to travel from Valencia to Alicante is by car.
There are three travel routes, which differ in length and type of road:
- the A7 motorway is a free two-lane motorway that was recently built. The distance between Valencia and Alicante on this road is 170 km. From Valencia you need to get to the city of Xativa, 60 km after entering the city there will be exit 640, which is designated on the maps as CV-40 Ontenyent Alcoi. Then a direct road leads to Alicante;
- travel on the free highways A7, A35 and A31. You will have to cover the distance of 179 km;
- drive on the AP-7, a toll highway that runs parallel to the coast. The fare from Valencia to Alicante (which is 171 km) today is about 17 euros. This motorway is part of the Mediterranean Highway that connects all towns and villages along the Spanish Mediterranean coast from the French border to Algeciras. It is impossible to get lost on it. You just need to stick to the AP-7 pointers.
On the road, you will have to spend from 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes.
The way for the rich
For those who rather want to be in a hotel room and are not used to saving their funds allocated for vacation, we recommend that you go from Valencia to Alicante by plane. Direct flights between the two cities are offered by Iceland Express. The cost of the flight is $ 70. On the way, tourists spend 1 hour and 15 minutes. A ticket to Alicante with one change in Palma de Mallorca of Ryanair and Iberia costs 15 dollars more. The whole journey takes 32 hours 35 minutes, which seems impractical. On the other hand, this route allows you to spend some wonderful hours in the Balearic Islands.
Valencia Airport is located 8 km from the city. From the center, it can be reached by metro (lines 3 and 5), which operates from Monday to Friday from 6.00 to 23.00, on Saturdays from 7.00 and on Sundays and holidays from 7.30. Also from the center to the airport there is a bus number 150.
The easiest way to get from Alicante airport to the train station area is by metro or taxi.
