  • The perfect trip to Morocco

Medieval historians called the northwestern shores of the black continent Maghreb. "Where the sunset is", translated from Arabic, el-Maghrib is not only the name of the union of several African countries, but also the name of the country we know as Morocco. A trip to a kingdom with ancient traditions will allow the guest to plunge into the medieval Arab atmosphere of labyrinths of narrow streets, taste real dates and see goats graze on trees, and endless sand dunes merge on the horizon with white lambs of ocean waves.

Choosing wings

There are several international airports in Morocco, but the most popular among Russian travelers are Agadir and Casablanca:

  • Direct flights to the main beach resort of Moroccan Agadir are operated by Royal Air Maroc aircraft. The price of a ticket for a regular flight lasting about 6 hours is from $ 480.
  • Several times a week, the capital of Russia and Agadir are connected during the summer season by the charters of the Jordanian company Royal Falcon Airlines. The ticket will cost about $ 400.
  • Moroccan Airlines also operate direct flights to Casablanca. You will have to spend the same 6 hours in the sky.
  • Cheaper tickets to Moroccan airports from carriers from Europe. Germans, Dutch or French willingly take passengers on board in Moscow and deliver them to Casablanca in 8-10 hours, taking into account intermediate connections in Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Paris.

1000 and one night

The hotel fund of Moroccan cities and resorts is so diverse that absolutely all travel lovers will be able to feel "at ease" on a trip. In the old part of each city, there are still hotels that were opened during the reign of the local Tsar Pea, but their special flavor and style attracts tourists very much. Such hotels will not have air conditioning, but a special ventilation and cooling system will make you feel comfortable even in extreme heat. Prices for such hotels are very low and anyone can afford to feel like a medieval traveler for at least one night.

Modern hotels in Morocco are in no way inferior to European ones and even adhere to the same classification system:

  • Most of the "fives" and good "fours" in the resorts of Morocco are built in close proximity to the sea, and the guests of the "treshki" will have to walk to the beach in just a few extra minutes.
  • A 3 * room in Agadir can be rented for $ 30-$ 35 within the city, 10-20 minutes leisurely walk from the beach. Closer to the ocean, "treshki" cost from $ 45 per night.
  • Five-star hotels in Agadir are located on the first coastline and a night in a room of such a hotel for two will cost from $ 90.
  • Usually resorts in Morocco offer half board, but all-inclusive is available in some hotels.

When traveling in Morocco, remember that in any Arab country it is not customary to rush and even the most qualified hotel staff will do their job a little slower than the hotel status suggests. With this in mind, plan your business well in advance and you won't have any overlaps due to being late.

Transport subtleties

The kingdom has fairly decent roads and many tourists prefer to rent a car here. It is worth remembering that the state languages of Morocco are Arabic and French, and therefore you will not find road signs in English here. Local drivers do not always comply with traffic rules, but with due care and caution, driving in Morocco is pleasant and interesting.

It is convenient to travel between cities in the country by trains and buses. The former are more comfortable, but railways are not everywhere. It is worth buying bus tickets in advance, but it is better to avoid cramped and unconditioned minibuses.

Taxis in Morocco cannot be called cheap. The price for 1 km of run is about US dollar, but you can negotiate a significant discount if you rent a taxi for a long trip.

Nightingales are not fed with fables

Maghreb cuisine is famous all over the world, and Morocco is no exception in the list of these countries. The most famous dishes are prepared here with special dishes - tagine, which you can bring home for your own needs and as a gift to friends.

Choose a catering establishment, guided by your own concepts of cleanliness. Street cafes should be avoided altogether, so as not to arrange tests for an unaccustomed stomach. Hotel restaurants are usually clean, but ice in drinks should be discarded even there.

Having been under the French protectorate for many years, the country has inherited many European culinary traditions. On the streets of Morocco you can find restaurants of a very high class, in the menu of which there are dishes of French cuisine.

The average bill for a dinner for two with wine in a good restaurant can be up to $ 50, and a traveler will manage to have a snack in a small cafe, ordering chicken in tagine and a Maghreb salad with Moroccan tea or coffee, for $ 15.

Useful details

  • To visit the Kingdom of Morocco for tourist purposes, a Russian tourist does not need a visa.
  • You can see the famous Moroccan goats grazing in the trees on the road from Agadir to Essaouira. Climbing goats are a unique phenomenon in wildlife and only a Moroccan "trick".
  • The best surfing in Morocco is practiced in the villages north of Agadir. A good wave is also happening in Essaouira, where schools are open and equipment rental awaits tourists. The water temperature in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the kingdom, even at the height of summer, is not too high, and therefore in the off-season and even more so in winter, a wetsuit is required.
  • Be sure to bargain while shopping in Morocco, especially when it comes to markets or souvenir shops. It is quite possible to reduce the price by half or more here, and, moreover, you will spend the time spent in pleasant conversations with merchants and over a cup of aromatic coffee or branded Moroccan tea.

The perfect trip to Morocco

The Mediterranean coast of the country is the zone of action of the climate of the same name. In summer, it can be up to + 35 ° С, and in late spring and early autumn, the most comfortable weather is set for both beach and sightseeing holidays.

Strong winds prevail on the Atlantic coast, and even in the middle of July it is fresh on the beaches, but it is much easier to get sunburn in the active sun here! The ocean in Morocco is famous for its ebb and flow, and therefore the location on the beach should be chosen taking into account the ever-changing water level.

It is better to plan a tour of the ancient cities of Morocco in early spring or mid and late autumn, because in summer these regions are too hot.

Ski resorts in Morocco in the mountains of the Great Atlas are ready to receive athletes from the last days of November, when a stable snow cover appears on the slopes. The season lasts until April and by the end of the season the air temperature on the highways reaches + 15 ° С during the day.
