For a long time, Turkey has been and remains one of the top priority vacation destinations for millions of Russians and residents of Western Europe. And even some cooling in political relations cannot prevent this. Travelers are concerned with only one question - Antalya or Marmaris, Side or Kemer.
Let's try to compare two fairly popular resorts, find out how Side differs from Kemer, what interesting things can be offered to its guests, where is the best vacation, beaches, infrastructure, entertainment and attractions.
The best beaches are Side or Kemer?
Kemer
The Turkish city of Side has several important tasks, firstly, it is known as one of the most active tourist centers in the south of the country. Secondly, it is called the main archaeological zone of Turkey, a kind of open-air museum. At the same time, beach vacations are still the most favorite pastime in the city.
There are several excellent beaches, the best sandy cover in the west of the city, but the disadvantage of recreation is a large number of large hotel complexes, respectively, a crowd of people on the beach. There are much fewer hotels in the eastern part of the city, so the beaches here are more comfortable for relaxation and sunbathing. The infrastructure is developed, you can go fishing, dive, sail, ride on catamarans or water skiing.
Kemer, in contrast to Side, offers relaxation on pebble beaches, although some hotels, however, annually organize loose sandy beaches for their guests. But there are few such places, near the seashore pebbles meet tourists anyway.
Diving in Turkey
Diving into the kingdom of Neptune is not a very common phenomenon in Side; of the important dive sites, one can note the ship "San Didier", which belonged to the French and sank during the last world war near Antalya. Also, diving in Manavgat promises interesting sensations, where you can see the wreckage of a US military aircraft, knocked out and sunk during the same war. Some of the details of this aircraft are already stored in one of the museums in Istanbul.
Active recreation in Side
Diving in Kemer takes place in the same places where vacationers in Side dive, so tourists see the same underwater landscapes. From Kemer, you can go to the Tekirova region, where the diving site "Three Islands" is located, where the lovers of the kingdom of Neptune will find mysterious underwater caves, amazing inhabitants of the sea depths - seals, dolphins and sucker fish.
Active rest in Kemer
Turkish entertainment and attractions
Since Side is under the protection of UNESCO, it will be of interest to lovers of ancient history. The old town occupies territory on a peninsula and is separated from the rest of the resort by a fortress wall. Walking along the old streets, you can see many unique architectural structures. The city has many restaurants, nightclubs that try to attract tourists with special "chips". For example, in one of them you can dance and swim in the pool.
Attractions and entertainment on vacation in Side
Kemer is not as rich in historical heritage as its "colleague" Side, so most of the excursions are associated with going out into the countryside and getting to know the beautiful corners of Turkey. One of the most popular places is the Yoruk Park, where you can get acquainted with the history of Turkey, ethnographic materials. Samples of houses, utensils, tools are presented in the expositions on the territory of the park. It also sells souvenirs made by craftsmen according to old technologies, offers national Turkish dishes.
Remains of an ancient settlement can be found in the vicinity of Kemer, this is the former port city of Phaselis, founded by guests from Rhodes in the 7th century BC. You can see the ruins, what is left of the squares and Roman baths, warehouses and theaters. There is a mountain in Kemer, which is considered the highest in southern Turkey; guests of the resort have a unique opportunity to climb to its top by cable car.
Attractions and entertainment on vacation in Kemer
