Cyprus has firmly taken its tourist niche, it is not going to give up its positions to anyone. On the contrary, every year the resorts are becoming more beautiful, well-groomed, the industry of recreation and entertainment is developing. Tourists have a problem, Limassol or Larnaca, or some other resort. How to choose the right city for your vacation? You need to compare it by several parameters, for example, the price of accommodation, entertainment, places of interest and, of course, most importantly, the beaches.

Limassol or Larnaca - where is the rest more expensive?

The name of Limassol is translated quite simply - "Medium City", it really occupies a central position in Cyprus in relation to the important attractions. Therefore, while resting at this resort, you can have time to see all the best and most beautiful. In Limassol, you can meet a wide variety of tourists - a fashionable public, young people seeking to save money on vacation, parents with children. Therefore, we can say that the resort (like the name) is at the level of average prices for the island, it is not the most expensive, but you cannot call it cheap either.

Larnaca is one of the oldest in Cyprus, archaeological research has found traces of human existence, which are more than 600 years old. Today the city lives off tourists, and the prices for vacations here are very democratic, which makes it possible to have a good time for families with low incomes, students, elderly people living on pensions.

Limassol and Larnaca beaches

Limassol beaches are very convenient and comfortable, which is why they are loved by both young tourists and travelers of a respectable age. Most of the beaches are covered with sand, some are pebbly. The descent into the water is gentle, which only adds to the pleasure of those taking sea baths. Infrastructure is developed, although the coastline is not as wide as on other beaches in Cyprus. There is an opportunity to go in for water aerobics, ride various swimming facilities, play and play sports.

The beach areas in Larnaca are quite large, well-equipped, many of them have been awarded Blue Flags, which means that you don't have to worry about cleanliness and safety. The disadvantage of local beaches is that the color of the sand is grayish, it does not look very nice in photographs. But you can find areas with the accompanying infrastructure for the coastal recreation of children (Finikoudes beach), active youth (Mackenzie), families (Faros).

Entertainment

Since tourists of all ages rest in Limassol, it means that the resort has entertainment for all tastes. For a young audience, water parks with a full range of extreme slides and attractions are suitable. Respectable tourists choose spas, health centers, heated pools. In this resort you can do a variety of sports, even horseback riding. During the summer, the city hosts many festivals that leave an unforgettable experience.

The main entertainment of Larnaca is concentrated around the beautiful promenade - walks in the shade of exotic trees, stunning seascapes, many restaurants or taverns in ethnic style.

Interesting places in Cyprus

Not far from Limassol are the ancient cities (or rather, the ruins) of Amathus and Kourion, so you can see how ancient people lived, hear many legends from the history of Greece. One of them says that the beautiful Ariadne was in Amathus, who taught Theseus how to defeat the Minotaur and get out of the labyrinth.

Preserved in Limassol monuments of later times, including the citadel, erected in the XIV century. Earlier on this place stood a Byzantine castle with a chapel, where an important event for world history took place - Richard the Lionheart took Berengaria as his wife, who was destined to become the English queen.

Larnaca carefully preserves its historical monuments, many of which are more than one century old. Here you can find the remains of the ancient city, and in it the ruins of both ancient Greek sanctuaries and the first Christian temples. The church of Panaya Angeloktisti dates back to the reign of Byzantium; a beautiful legend is associated with it that the angels built this temple. The main rarity is kept inside the church - the image of the Mother of God, dating back to the 4th century.
