Holidays on the islands in the Mediterranean are always like a fairy tale. Warm sea, perfect service, beautiful nature and excellent cuisine are guaranteed to all guests, but at the same time they are in Corfu or Cyprus - it is not so important.
Criterias of choice
And yet, when choosing a destination, experienced tourists prefer to study all the subtleties so that unnecessary surprises and unforeseen situations do not arise during the trip.
Before traveling to Corfu or Cyprus, you will have to obtain an entry visa. Greece will require a full standard package of documents for the Schengen and a receipt for payment of the visa fee, and Russian tourists can now get to Cyprus by going through a simplified visa procedure. You won't have to pay for it either.
Anyone who arrives on ferries from Turkey has the opportunity to visit the Greek islands without a visa during the summer season. For those who are accustomed to flying, it will not be difficult to choose a flight:
- An air ticket from Moscow to Corfu in both directions during the high season will cost an average of 26 thousand rubles. This is the price offered by Greek carriers for a direct regular flight. The flight time will be 3 hours 45 minutes.
- You can fly to Cyprus a little cheaper. Russian low-cost airlines invite passengers on board for 18 thousand rubles, making a direct flight from the capital of Russia to Larnaca in 3 hours 50 minutes.
When choosing between hotels in Corfu or Cyprus, it is worth knowing that hotels in both countries generally comply with the accepted international system of star standards. But if Corfu is considered to be an elite resort, Cyprus in this sense is more democratic. An average room in a 3 * hotel in the resorts of Cyprus or Corfu will cost $ 55- $ 65, but on the Greek island there are few "three rubles", and therefore it is best to book them long before arrival.
Beaches of Corfu or Cyprus
The cleanliness of the Greek and Cypriot beaches has long been the hallmark of local resorts. They have repeatedly received the prestigious European award for cleanliness and special achievements in environmental preservation - the Blue Flag certificate:
- The beaches in the south and east of Cyprus are sandy, wide, with a gentle entrance to the sea and are most suitable for families with children. They are equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas and fresh showers, and admission is absolutely free. In the east, pebble coverings are more common.
- Corfu also boasts a variety of beaches. Fans of noisy beach parties on the sand, and lovers of secluded contemplation of the surrounding landscapes in rocky bays will be able to find a place under the sun here.
The beach season in Corfu starts a couple of weeks later than
Cyprus, as this Greek island is located much further north. In Cyprus, you can comfortably swim from mid-May to late October, while in Corfu it is better to wait for the last days of spring before diving into the waves here.
For the soul and photo album
Guests of both islands will be able to diversify their rest with educational excursions and trips to entertainment centers. While vacationing in Corfu or Cyprus, you can visit Christian monasteries and stroll through local museums, spend a day at the water park, or rent a car to drive around the area and take photos of the best Mediterranean landscapes.
