- Visiting Hans-Christian Andersen
Ask a tourist from Russia to name the Scandinavian countries, and he will certainly be mistaken when he thinks of Norway, Sweden and Finland. The latter country does not belong to this region, but another, small European power is a full-fledged "member" of the company. Excursions in Denmark, which is a real "pearl" of the Scandinavian Peninsula, introduce you to a long history and rich culture.
You can visit Denmark at any time of the year, there are always interesting excursions for tourists - in Copenhagen, Aarhus or in Odense, the homeland of G.-H. Andersen. In summer, you can relax on the Danish Riviera, visit amazing amusement parks (Tivoli or Legoland) with your children, travel to beautiful places and protected areas.
City excursions in Denmark
The richest and brightest in Denmark are excursions, which are held on city sights and beautiful places. For example, a guided tour of Copenhagen will last about two hours and will cost 100 € for a group of three or four tourists. The program of the excursion route can be very different, from acquaintance with historical ancient monuments to a modern city with stunning architecture.
For tourists, it becomes a perfect discovery that you can not show ancient ruins and artifacts of the past, but, on the contrary, demonstrate modern objects, areas, and it is so exciting to talk about it. The excursion "Copenhagen - the city of the future" begins from the Erestad area, which recently appeared on the map, but managed to get the name "Danish Manhattan".
The most vivid impression is the acquaintance with the architectural masterpieces of the local company BIG. Buildings according to her projects can be found today in different countries of the world, and they are all amazing. In Denmark, the company built a house called VM, its peculiarity is that it is made as transparent as possible. The second interesting building in Copenhagen from this company is "Mountain", it successfully combines apartments and a garden.
Danish sea voyage
Such an excursion is also popular in Copenhagen, firstly, located on the seashore, and, secondly, having many picturesque canals. The guided walk will last one hour, the price is 100 € for a large group. Tourists travel on a comfortable boat along the city canals and along the sea coast.
During this time, they have the opportunity to admire the seascapes and views of the city from the sea, to see the oldest city marinas. The guide will tell a lot of legends about Copenhagen and the sea, perhaps tell the saddest Danish love story of the poor Little Mermaid.
Royal journey
Despite the vicissitudes of history, participation in world wars and local hostilities, the Danes managed to preserve many monuments of their history. Today they are in the center of the guests' attention. "Three castles in one day" - this name has one of the most popular routes today. During the car excursion, which will last a whole day and will cost about 500 € for the company, tourists will be able to see the following, the most famous castles of Denmark, located in the vicinity of Copenhagen: Frederiksborg; Fredensborg; Kronborg.
Frederiksborg is called a living witness of Danish history. The palace itself was built in the Renaissance style; a museum exposition is arranged in its luxurious chambers, which acquaints guests with the history of the country, from 1200 to the present day. In addition to the castle, tourists are invited to explore a beautiful park with flower beds, artificial ponds, royal monograms made of flowers.
Fredensborg Castle was built in the Baroque style, its highlight is the changing of the guard, since the royal guards in their high shaggy hats have a very picturesque look. Kronborg corresponds to the name of the great Shakespeare, who decided that the action of the famous tragedy "Hamlet" would be played out in this particular castle complex.
Visiting Hans-Christian Andersen
It is clear that without a story about the great Danish storyteller and his creations, it is impossible to imagine a journey through this European power. The journey is quite long, about 7 hours, cost from 350 € per group (up to 40 people). The route begins in Odense, where the future great storyteller was born, thanks to whom the town became famous throughout the world.
The townspeople, one might say, took advantage of this important event, now Odense is positioned as the "City of Fairy Tales", at every corner there is either a monument to Andersen, or characters invented by him. There are two museums dedicated to the great storyteller:
- a very small house where the future genius of Danish literature was born;
- a whole museum quarter, introducing in detail the life and creative biography.
During the excursion, tourists will learn a lot about Andersen and his path to fame, remember the main characters of his fairy tales, and return to the wonderful world of childhood.
