The city is focused primarily on tourists and businessmen who come here to work and relax. Administratively, Miami is divided into several districts, each of which has its own cultural attractions and monuments. Miami Beach is one of the most glamorous and funniest areas of the city, where some of the world's cultural events are constantly taking place: festivals; exhibitions, vernissages; presentations; there are restaurants and nightclubs. The central part of the city is devoted to business and its representatives; there are a large number of banks, buildings and offices of various companies.
The historical center is located in the southern part of the city, its foundation dates back to 1922, although there are buildings of earlier construction. This area of Miami is a great place to stroll through the quiet tree-lined streets and explore the old houses. And there are also a large number of parks, green areas, beckoning with coolness and silence.
In the west, there is a region of immigrants, originally Jews settled here, today in this area you can meet representatives of almost all nationalities of the planet. A large diaspora of immigrants from Cuba, for which the area received the unspoken name "Little Havana". Their “colleagues”, immigrants from the black continent and Central America, have chosen the northern region of Miami for themselves. Traveling to immigrant areas may not be too safe for a European tourist, but it allows you to plunge into the national culture of different countries, peoples and the modern youth subculture that does not differentiate in skin color.
What to visit in Miami at night?
Miami is a resort that never seems to sleep; the nightlife in the area with a beautiful name - Art Deco - is especially vibrant. It is located in the southern part of the city and consists of low-rise Art Nouveau buildings dating back to the early 20th century.
You can walk in this area both during the day and in the evening. During the daytime, the area is ideal for excursion programs introducing the history of Miami, urban development and the peculiarities of local Art Nouveau in architecture. The evening walk becomes more intense and bright, chic restaurants and boutiques of designer clothes await guests. And also - a luxurious promenade along the Ocean Drive embankment, a walk is part of the obligatory program of every self-respecting tourist.
Jungle journey
Going to an exotic park with a funny name "Parrot Jungle" is what is recommended to visit in Miami on your own. The name of the park speaks for itself, on the one hand, here you can get acquainted with exotic plants, enjoy a walk through picturesque corners with lakes, waterfalls and beautiful panoramic views. On the other hand, in this park you can get acquainted with the world of the local avifauna, hundreds of species of tropical birds live here, most of them are handsome parrots.
The second interesting nature reserve in the vicinity of Miami invites you to meet with primates, it is called "Jungle of the Monkeys". Animals in this park live in natural conditions, and people, on the contrary, are, as it were, in a cage, it even becomes interesting who is watching whom in this case.
The third protected area of Miami was named the "Land of the Lions". In addition to formidable predators, it is home to animals characteristic of the South African region. Rhinos and giraffes, elephants and zebras, antelopes and chimpanzees are the main inhabitants of the zoo.
Walking with a taste of the sea
Since staying on the coast in Miami is becoming the main component of guests' recreation, there is an extensive entertainment system by the sea, near it or related thematically, including:
- a trip to Ke-West, which, rather, resembles a flight over the water surface;
- sea cruises on huge liners, luxury yachts, boats or sea trams;
- a trip through the underwater park located off the coast of Key Largo;
- performances and excursions in the marine aquarium.
Vivid impressions await travelers in any case. For example, in the underwater park, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, you can see beautiful sculptures installed on the seabed. Among them is the bronze statue of Christ, which weighs almost two tons, it is an exact copy of the famous sculpture, resting at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Genoa.
