For those who are not indifferent to vintage and antiques, it is worth planning a trip to the capital of Eastern Pomerania in time for the fair, within which the Gdansk flea market operates.
Saint Dominic's Fair
At the annual flea market (open daily), which takes place in July-August, visitors will be able to acquire handmade shoes, linen clothes, jewelry, candlesticks, figurines, violins, clocks, paintings, vases and decanters, pre-war postcards and photographs from pre-war photo studio, old letters and military documents, old crosses and icons, old German shoe spoons, carpets, coins (here you can find both pennies of the Russian Empire and Indian rupees), radios (for a small receiver they ask you to pay about 200 zlotys), cold weapons, gramophones, gramophones and records, pharmaceutical vials, mailboxes, antique doorknobs and candelabra, charcoal irons, rare ashtrays. In addition, at the fair, guests are entertained by dancers, street musicians and actors, circus acrobats and jugglers, and they are also invited to try sausages, rolls, beer, sweets and take part in interesting master classes.
Christmas Fair
If you are vacationing in Gdansk in December, you will be lucky enough to visit the Christmas market (on weekdays it works from 11 am to 8 pm, and on weekends - until 9 pm), which unfolds at Targ Weglowy: visitors will be able to become owners of New Year's souvenirs, handmade dishes, designer jewelry, children's toys made of wood, various talismans, taste hot cider and mulled wine, delicious sausages and pastries, ride a skating rink and attend festive concerts.
Market in Sopot
Sopot is located 12 km from Gdansk - it is worth going there for fans of flea markets. The local flea market, nicknamed “Sopotello,” sells jewelry, furniture, vintage bags and clothing, mini sculptures and paintings, handicrafts, antiques and family items.
Shopping in Gdansk
Shopaholics should take a closer look at Baltic Gallery (there are about 200 stores and boutiques on its territory), Madison (with 100 boutiques offering a huge range of goods) and AlfaCentrum (its 80 stores will satisfy even the most demanding customers).
It is unforgivable to return from Gdansk empty-handed - do not forget to pack jewelry and other products made of amber (amber mined in Gdansk has a beneficial effect on health), tincture of Goldwasser, figurines and images of the god of the seas Neptune, wooden ship model Dar Pomorza.
