Even the youngest Russian cities acquire their own heraldic symbols. The difficulty is that representatives of the authorities often cannot come to a consensus about which important elements should be present, which color scheme is better. The coat of arms of Nizhnevartovsk, local historians assure, has changed four times over the past seven years. I would like to believe that the sketch, acting today, will survive the centuries.
Description of the coat of arms of Nizhnevartovsk
The modern heraldic symbol looks very stylish and elegant. On the one hand, one feels that the author of the sketch, artist Sergei Grigoriev, is well aware of the rules and traditions of world heraldry. On the other hand, experts note a strict selection of elements symbolically associated with this Russian city and region.
As a basis, a French shield is taken, which has a rectangular shape and rounded lower ends, and a sharpening in the center. This shield is divided into three fields of unequal size. Each of the fields is painted in its own color (gold, silver, azure) and has different elements:
- in the upper part - a pipe with large black drops;
- on the left (for the viewer), silver part - a green beauty-spruce;
- on the right, azure part, there is an image of a vertical pair of silver fish.
Anyone who has never been to Nizhnevartovsk, but is at least superficially familiar with the history of Russia, will be able to decipher these symbols. A pipe with flowing oil is symbolically depicted on a gold background; this element can be associated with a rich oil field discovered in the vicinity of Nizhnevartovsk in the 1960s. Thanks to this, the city began to develop at an accelerated pace, and the acceleration was observed not only in the economy, but also in other spheres of human life, including science, transport, trade, and culture.
The green spruce is a symbol of the natural resources of this Russian region, primarily of coniferous forests. The azure color of the right field correlates, first of all, with the Ob, and the fish, accordingly, indicate the wealth of local rivers.
From recent history
In 1992, the first coat of arms of Nizhnevartovsk appeared, it clearly shows the tendency to preserve historical traditions and continuity. At the heart of the coat of arms of the Tobolsk governorship with military attributes in the form of fittings, halberds and banners.
The lower part of the shield is emerald (symbol of forests) with azure waves (symbol of rivers). Against this background, a black pipe and a stylized image of an oil rig are visible. These elements were preserved on all variants of the city's coat of arms.
