Holidays in Jamaica will allow tourists to feed hummingbirds from their hands, ride an ostrich, visit a coffee planter's estate, attend a reggae festival, admire the sunset from Blue Peak (height - more than 2000 m) … And they will also have a chance to see the waterfalls of Jamaica …
Dunn's River Falls
The waterfalls reach 180 m in height, and their streams fall into the Caribbean Sea, bypassing numerous ledges (viewing platforms are provided for viewing). Climbing the Dunn's River cliffs (located 3 km from the city of Ocho Rios), which is recommended to be accompanied by one of the park's guides (you can hear interesting stories from their lips), will take about 45 minutes - 1 hour (you will have to do at least 600 steps).
Nearby you can find a café serving local cuisine, a Jamaican souvenir shop, a children's playground and a playground for live performances, and just below the waterfalls, there is a white-sand beach suitable for sunbathing and swimming in the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea.
Mayfield Falls
Mayfield is represented by two streams, near which there are pools with clear water. Those who decide to explore the Mayfield Falls will be offered to go on an excursion (cost - from $ 75), which also involves visiting mineral springs with a stop in the village, where they will be treated to lunch. It is worth noting that the way to this place will pass along a shallow river and will take about 1 hour (since you have to walk on slippery stones, it is advisable to be shod in boots with rubber soles). The surroundings of the waterfalls are interesting for nature lovers (exotic flowers and ferns grow here, birds and butterflies fly) and hiking.
Yas Falls
Its cascades consist of 7 levels, with a total height of 36 m - each of them has natural pools where you can swim (lifeguards run next to them). Guests are offered to zip at a 10-meter height along a cable car (they are fastened using special fasteners) - the cost of a bold entertainment will be 3,000 Jamaican dollars. If vacationers are interested in a measured tubing ride down the river that feeds the Yas Falls, then they will be asked to pay 600 Jamaican dollars for such entertainment.
It is worth noting that the waterfalls "hid" in a secluded area, where those who wish can hide from the hustle and bustle, and the driver of a tractor with a carriage for passengers attached to it is engaged in delivering them to the very depths of the tropical thickets.
Note: the entrance ticket is $ 17 / adults, $ 8, 5 / children. Website: www.ysfalls.com
