The capital of Lithuania will not leave indifferent architecture lovers (they should take a walk in the Old Town). In addition, tourists will be curious to visit the interesting events that take place in the summer months (the St. Bartholomew's fair, accompanied by master classes and theatrical performances, deserves attention).
Gediminas Tower
The 20-meter tower is a symbol of Vilnius, built of red brick (you can climb to it by means of a cable car, costing 1.5 euros, or a spiral path stretching along the slope of the mountain), and pleases travelers with the presence of an observation deck (from there they admire Vilnius, in in particular, the Old Town) and the museum (guests will see archaeological finds and historical documents, the study of which "sheds light" on the history of the castle).
Gate of Ausros
This gate (the facade is decorated with griffins) is the only one of the surviving 10 fortress gates of the city, and in the upper part of the gate it will be possible to find a chapel where you can see the icon of the Ostrobramskaya Mother of God, which has healing properties (the work of an unknown master of the 17th century).
Vilnius TV Tower
The building, with a height of 326 m, houses not only a radio and television broadcasting center, the TV tower pleases visitors with the rotating restaurant Milky Way (the elevator reaches 165 meters in 45 seconds), where you can order your favorite dish and admire the opening circular panorama of Vilnius. And if you wish, you can visit the exhibition of photographs (1st floor) - this is a tribute to the memory of those who died in January 1991. It is worth noting that every year for Christmas the TV tower is decorated like a Christmas tree with 32 170-meter garlands.
Hill of Three Crosses
This monument in the form of three white crosses - a religious symbol of Vilnius - is located on the top of a hill and was erected in memory of the brutally murdered Franciscans. Tourists, however, are interested in the available observation deck, from where they can admire the beauty of Vilnius.
St. Anne's Church
During the construction of this temple, more than 33 varieties of bricks were used, which diversified the texture of the structure and made it possible to create unique patterns. It should be noted that the facade of the church, the composition of which is formed by three towers of the same height, is a unique example of Gothic architecture in the Baltics.
