Turkey is currently one of the leaders in the tourism business. Guests of the country have a rest, visit historical and cultural sights, but you can get acquainted with the past through the heraldic symbols of the state, its cities and resorts. For example, the coat of arms of Alanya can tell about the geographical location, history, architecture of the city.

The importance of the city in the history of the country

Today Alanya (Alanya) is one of the most famous Turkish resorts. Although from the moment of its foundation, it had a different mission - the settlement, founded in the II century BC by settlers-colonists from neighboring Greece, gave shelter to smugglers and pirates.

Then this city, along with all of Cilicia, was presented to the beautiful Cleopatra, Mark Antony showed incredible generosity. For almost a thousand years, Alania was part of the Byzantine Empire.

The Seljuks, who seized the settlement, renamed it “Alaye”, which is consonant with the modern name of the city. They also contributed to the change in the architectural appearance of the settlement. During the reign of one of the Seljuk sultans, the Red Tower was erected.

Geography and architecture

If we carefully consider the coat of arms of this Turkish city, then the following fragments of the composition can be distinguished:

  • sea waves highlighting the location of the city;
  • The Red Tower and part of the old buildings;
  • the rising disk of the sun against the background of the azure sky.

The heraldic composition itself has a rounded shape, the above symbols are also enclosed in a circle and are located in the center. Below is the name of the city in Turkish. Above the composition is crowned with the image of a two-headed bird, spreading its wings, and the letters "TS", which stands for "Turkish Republic".

Color balance

The images, which are symbols of the city and located in the inner circle of the coat of arms, are characterized by bright colors. The authors have chosen juicy tones - saturated azure for waves, brick red for architectural structures and the solar disk, blue for the transmission of the sky.

The symbols located in the outer circle and the background itself are distinguished by the restraint of the color palette, especially in comparison with the brightness of the colors of the inner part of the coat of arms. The name of the city and country, the image of the bird are made in black, for the background the authors chose gold, but not bright, but rather the color of aged gold, a true jewel.
