Christmas for Poles is a return to those happy moments of childhood, when the whole family is together, candles are burning, it smells of a Christmas tree, tangerines and cinnamon, and you, still quite small, gaze into the evening sky, waiting for the first star. The table is set, and one special place behind it is for the occasional guest. It is always empty, but it breathes with mystery. Who will occupy him, who is he, the lonely wanderer who is expected this night in every home? And if you find yourself on Christmas night in Gdansk, very few passers-by will meet you. These are just them, the very wanderers. They are expected everywhere, but they all roam the city, bewitched by its beauty.
And Gdansk is really unrealistically beautiful - a combination of strict Gothic, Renaissance and Rococo. And above all this the free spirit of the Hanseatic city of Danzig hovers
