Bright sun and gentle sea, but in modern conditions of ancient exoticism - that's what a trip to Turkmenistan is. Going to the country by plane, you can observe a truly fabulous picture: the plains scorched by the sun give way to emerald foothills, and the orange dunes of the Karakum desert suddenly turn into the blue waters of the Caspian.

Public transport

You can get around Ashgabat using buses, trolleybuses and taxi cars. Buses are presented in two types: old and modern, from Honday. The routes cover the entire city. The fare is low. Payment is made at the entrance: money must be put in a special box for the driver. Trolleybuses are only old. The fare does not differ from the bus trip.

On the streets you can see branded yellow taxis and use the services of private owners. At the same time, the cost of travel is the same for everyone.

If you have a lot of travel plans, you can buy a travel card. The disadvantage is that the pass is valid for a whole month. You can buy it from distributors or at kiosks located at the final stops of the routes.

Air transport

The main air carrier of the country is Turkmen Airlines. It is this company that is considered the safest of all Asian air carriers. More than two thousand people use the services of the airline on domestic routes every day. Almost half a million passengers fly international flights throughout the year.

Regular flights connect Ashgabat with many major cities in the world, in particular with Moscow, London, Frankfurt, Birmingham, Bangkok, Delhi, Abu Dhabi, Amritsar, Beijing, Istanbul, Minsk, Almaty, Tashkent, St. Petersburg.

Railway transport

"Railways of Turkmenistan" is the sole owner of the railroad network in the republic. The total length of the railway lines is a little over 2,500 kilometers. There are no electrified tracks. Mainly single-track roads are used in the country. But on the line Chardzhev - Ashgabat - Turkmenbashi there are sections where two routes are used.

Water transport

Sea transport is one of the important parts of the overall transport system, since communication with the Transcaucasian republics, the North Caucasus and the Volga region is carried out precisely by sea - through the waters of the Caspian. There are three seaports in Turkmenistan: Bekdash, Krasnovodsk and Aladzha.

general information

Since almost the entire territory of the country is desert, therefore, transport services for the most part are not very well organized. The total length of highways is only 24 thousand kilometers. Moreover, almost all of them have a hard asphalt surface. On the streets of the capital, almost half of all moving cars are taxis. You can stop the car in the classic way: by “voting” with your hand.
