A trip to Estonia is a vacation on the Baltic coast, an incredibly interesting "excursion" and, of course, an opportunity to improve your health at the mineral springs.
Public transport
There is a bus service between the major cities of the country. At the same time, the flight schedule is followed very accurately.
You can get around Tallinn by tram (4 lines). Trolleybuses and buses have a more developed route network. The flight schedule corresponds to the announced time. City transport starts working at 6 am, and ends the trip shortly before midnight.
The ticket can be bought both at the kiosk and directly from the driver of the vehicle. At the same time, the difference in cost will be quite significant. Quite expensive travel is "hare". And for such a dubious pleasure you will need to pay about 40 euros.
You can also purchase the Tallinn Card and use public transport for free during the entire validity period.
For passengers over 65 years of age, travel is free. This also applies to tourists, but you will be required to confirm such a right. In this case, you will need to present any document confirming your identity.
Taxi
Parking can be found near large hotels, railway and bus stations. A free taxi can be hailed on the street or ordered by phone. Since each company sets prices for services independently, it is necessary to agree on the cost of the trip or at least find out an approximate figure even before getting into the car. But first, study the price list, which is attached to the rear door of the car. After getting into the car, make sure that the meter is turned on and that the taxi driver has an operator card.
Air transport
Domestic flights are operated by two companies: Air Livonia and Avies. Departures are from Kurassaare Airport, located on Sarremaa Island, and Kärdla Airport from Hiiumaa Island.
Railway transport
The railway network covers most of the country (thanks to the numerous electric trains), but still travel by train is longer in time than by bus.
general information
In the country, right-hand traffic is accepted, therefore, if you are traveling by your car, you will not have to rebuild.
In cities, it is allowed to move at a speed not exceeding 50 km / h. On a suburban highway, you can accelerate to 90 km / h, and on some sections up to 110 km / h.
If desired, a car can be rented. The rules for concluding a contract are simple:
- international driving license;
- availability of a "green card" (medical insurance);
- some companies require a deposit for the car.
Parking in the center of Tallinn and its Old Town is paid. And to avoid problems, there should always be a parking ticket under the front glass. You can buy it at a magazine kiosk.
