The miniature island state of Bahrain is located in the Persian Gulf, occupying the archipelago of the same name. It is considered the smallest of the Arab states. Bahrain Island is the largest in the archipelago. In addition to it, the country owns 32 more islands.

Geographic characteristics

The central island is formed by limestone, while the rest of the land is coral in origin. Bahrain stretches 15 km from west to east and 50 km from north to south. A road bridge connects this country with Saudi Arabia. The area occupied by the island of Bahrain is approximately 622 sq. km. Its shores are occupied by sandy beaches. In the southern part there is a long sand spit, and in the northwest there are sand dunes. On the northeastern side of the island, there is a rocky embankment that turns into the Ras Er Ruman peninsula. The rest of the land areas differ from the central island in desert surfaces and small sizes.

There are no streams, rivers or lakes on the islands of the archipelago. The island nation shares borders with countries such as Iran, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Bahrain's population is represented by Arabs, Indians, Iranians, Pakistanis, Japanese and other nationalities. Locals speak Persian, Arabic, Urdu and English. Bahrain is a small but wealthy country. The centuries-old customs here are closely intertwined with modern trends. The economy of the state is based on pearl fishing, oil and natural gas production and processing, tourism. Offshore banking business is widespread here.

Climatic conditions

Bahrain Island is located in an area of tropical dry climate. Therefore, the lands of the state are mainly deserts. In the coastal zone, the seabed has underground fresh water springs. There is an abundance of corals in the sea. The country has warm winters and very hot summers. The average temperature in July is +40 degrees. In January, the temperature is never lower than +17 degrees.

Natural features

The fauna and flora of the archipelago are diverse. Bahrain's nature is sand dunes, hot desert and unique wildlife. According to ancient legends, the biblical Garden of Eden was once located on the territory of this state. In desert areas, tamarisk, camel thorn, astragalus, saxaul and others grow. Oases are found in those places where groundwater comes to the surface. The fauna of the islands is represented by reptiles, rodents and birds. But the coastal waters are rich in fish, coral formations and sea turtles.
