A small European country, Slovenia is like a jewelry box. It has everything a tourist's soul can wish for - beautiful mountains, pristine lakes, golden beaches and historical sights. Slovenia is also famous for its thermal spas, where you can improve your health and enjoy the comfort and service.
In recent years, Slovenian ski resorts have also increasingly entered the tourist market, to which an increasing number of Europeans gravitate. The reason for this is reasonable prices, a fairly decent level of service and excellent quality of equipment and tracks. If you add in the hotel staff and the Russian-speaking instructors on the slopes, it is the perfect place for your winter activities.
Bovec resort
This region is located almost at the border with Italy on the slopes of Mount Kanin. Here, most often, sunny weather and excellent quality snow, and therefore the resort is always a full house. However, this does not prevent his 14 lifts from successfully coping with the tasks assigned to them and working without queues.
Bovec has excellent conditions for snowboarding. The diverse off-piste zone, which is rich in ravines and rocks, looks like a natural fan park. For skiing outside the track, it is supposed to involve a guide-instructor who conducts workshops for freeride fans. The price of a question and life is from 50 to 70 euros for 3 and 5 hours, respectively. Walking lesson involves not only viewing the area, but also mastering the methods of safe descent through deep snow and the skills of using avalanche equipment.
The resort was honored to host the World Freeride Championship qualifying round. A ski pass bought in Borovets also allows you to ride on the slopes of neighboring resorts - the Austrian Arnoldstein and the Italian Tarvisio.
Spa Kranjska Gora
In the north-western region of Slovenia, there is a resort that annually hosts the stages of the World Cup in winter sports. Kranjska Gora, despite its highly professional level, willingly provides ideal skiing for families with small children, pensioners and very green skiers. Its tracks are so easy that they do not pose a danger even for little ones, and possible vagaries of the weather are ideally neutralized by a sufficient number of snow guns.
Kranjska Gora is an intermediate snowboarding resort. The local snow park was designed by the Germans, and its obstacles are of varying degrees of difficulty. A well-executed half-pipe is complemented by well-thought-out border crosses, and the kicker line is worthy of interest even for guru-boarders. The ticket price to enter the park is about 20 euros, night skiing is especially attractive for romantic couples.
Maribor resort
On the outskirts of this Slovenian town, rich in historical and cultural monuments, lies the ski resort of Mariborsko Pohorje. Its ski area is considered the largest in the country in terms of area: 43 km of tracks are laid here. The main contingent for whom the local slopes are intended are beginner skiers and snowboarders and adherents of quiet family skiing. The slopes of Maribor are wide and gentle, with a perfectly flat surface.
On the other hand, Maribor boarders are respected for a large off-piste skiing area, a variety of slopes and natural bumps that allow them to perform tricks and jumps. If you have problems with the weather and the quality of the snow, it is worth going to the Pohorje region. Snow cannons work there, the tracks are long, and artificial lighting makes it possible to arrange night rides.
The slope of the Habakuk Mountain has become a place for the organization of the Pohorje Snow Park, which is perfect for athletes with an average level of fitness. There is no halfpipe here, but a rainbow box is present. Big Air is pyramid-shaped and has enjoyed consistent success. All figures in the park are prepared daily.
Bohinj resort
This Slovenian ski region is located in a national park and is adjacent to the most beautiful Slovenian Lake Bohinj. One of the popular winter recreation centers in this region is Vogel. Its highest points are located at 1480 meters. The slopes go down to 550 meters, and their total length is 23 km. The resort has a system of artificial snowmaking, so that the quality of the snow does not depend on the vagaries of nature. 6 lifts, of which three are chairlifts, bring guests to the place where the descent starts.
The center of Kobla is no less popular, with a maximum slope height of 1800 meters. There are 36 km of high quality pistes prepared here, of which 4 km are marked in black. There are nine lifts, including four drag lifts. Some of the tracks are equipped for skiing in the evening.
