Description of the attraction
The Kovel Historical Museum is located at 11, O. Pchilki Street, in an old pharmacy. The exposition of the museum tells about the entire history of the Kovel region, from ancient times to the present day.
The Kovel Historical Museum was founded in June 1989. Initially, it was one of the departments of the Volyn Museum of Local Lore, and after a while it was taken under the tutelage of the Culture Department of the Kovel City Executive Committee. Over the course of ten years, the museum has managed to collect more than three thousand different exhibits.
The historical city museum displays thousands of exhibits that will help you get to know the history of this region in more detail. It contains various antiques, photographs, books, documents, ancient maps, horseshoes and swords of ancient masters, an old piano, a forge and a loom, folk costumes of the inhabitants of the region of the 19th-20th centuries, weapons from the Great Patriotic War and many other interesting historical exhibits.
The museum's scientists carry out painstaking research scientific work, studying and preserving the historical values of the region. Long-term and fruitful cooperation with scientific libraries, archives of the region, as well as with ordinary connoisseurs of the history of the city and the entire region give a positive result.
Today, in the Kovel Historical Museum, on the basis of the collected fund material, various interesting exhibitions are held, including an exhibition of works by amateur artists.
