Description of the attraction
In the city of La Paz, the actual capital of Bolivia, there are many religious architectural monuments of the 16th-17th centuries. The Franciscan monks are said to have been the first to arrive in the area, long before the founder of La Paz, Alonso de Mendoza. When he reached the Chuchiago Valley, he allocated part of the land for the construction of the monastery. Today, the Church and Convent of San Francisco are among the most famous landmarks in Bolivia. The facade of the church was reconstructed at the end of the 20th century. Tourists have the opportunity to visit not only the church, but also the monastery, which, like nowhere else, has preserved the amazing spirit of antiquity. By purchasing an additional ticket, you will be allowed to explore the monastery and even walk its roof, which can be reached by a narrow stone staircase.
