Description of the attraction
Recreation Park - a historical spa park with an area of 12, 97 hectares, located in the center of Kudowa-Zdrój. The park was created at the end of the eighteenth century (1787) by Baron von Stillfried at the site of the mineral springs at the foot of the mountain park, and in the early years of the nineteenth century the park was significantly expanded. The creation of the spa park followed the pattern of English parks.
Previously a guest house for patients "Little Castle", and now - a sanatorium, was built in 1772. The old house of the spa sanatorium was built in 1905. It was a semicircular baroque building with a large open hall and bathrooms, decorated with paintings by the Hungarian artist Arpag Molnar.
The oldest and most impressive part of the park is located along the embankment leading to the mineral water pump-room. All parts of the park have many well-groomed alleys and paths. There is a magnificent pond in the western part of the park. The park trees were brought here from North America and the Middle East to highlight the diversity of rare trees and ornamental plants. Many plants are valuable and have the status of natural monuments: Sudeten spruce, bicentennial purple beech, agave, various types of cacti, dracaena, rhododendrons. The pride of the park is the palm trees planted along the main alley, as well as the magnificent flower carpets that bloom here every spring.
The park is currently undergoing reconstruction.
