Description of the attraction

One of the most visited museums in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, is the Museum of Contemporary Art. This museum presents the works of masters of fine arts not only from Kazakhstan, but also from other countries of the commonwealth.

The opening of the museum took place in October 1980 and was timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the development of virgin and fallow lands. Then the collection featured more than 500 paintings. The collection is based on works of art by artists from all the Union republics, presented in 1979 in Alma-Ata at the exhibition "Land and People". Today, the museum contains about 4 thousand works, including wonderful collectibles and unique works of the Commonwealth countries. In addition, the museum exhibits works of Tajik fine art, beginning artists of the 60s. - K. Khushvakhtov, V. Khabibulin, A. Rakhimov, A. Amidzhanov and many others. Collections dedicated to Ukrainian art are presented by the canvases of the artists G. Vasetsky, N. Vitkovskaya, G. Zubchenko, N. Chernov, S. Shishko and others.

More than 50 different exhibitions are held annually in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Astana, including visiting and stationary, thematic and personal, exhibitions of republican and international significance, as well as photo exhibitions. Each of the exhibitions held attracts a huge number of visitors. Every person here will be able to find something interesting for themselves.

In addition to exhibitions, the Museum of Modern Art holds seminars on history, theory and foundations of fine arts, literary and musical evenings. Each event is unique, very interesting and multifaceted.
