Mantamados is a small town in the northeastern part of the Greek island of Lesvos, about 36 km from the administrative center of the island of Mytilene.

Mantamados is famous for a variety of excellent cheeses, among which Ladotiri cheese (produced exclusively on the island of Lesvos), excellent yoghurt, and high-quality olive oil and honey are among them. Local pottery is also well known outside the island. In Mantamados, you can not only buy a ceramic product as a souvenir in one of the city's shops, but also get acquainted with the secrets of pottery by attending an entertaining master class from local craftsmen.
Walking around the city, you should definitely look into the cultural center of Mantamados - "Polykentro" located in the building of the former olive processing plant, where various exhibitions (including the famous annual exhibition of Lesbos ceramics), concerts and other cultural events are held. Actually, the building itself is also of interest - an excellent example of industrial structures built on the island of Lesvos at the beginning of the 20th century.
Mantamados is also home to one of the most famous and revered shrines in Greece, the Monastery of the Archangel Michael (also known as Moni Taxiarhes).
