Description of the attraction
The fountain in the Zyuratkul National Park is one of the amazing sights not only of the Chelyabinsk region, but of the entire Urals. The ice fountain is located on the territory of the Zyuratkul National Park. The fountain is an unusual icicle made of bright blue ice, the height of which reaches 14 m. Water from the fountain gushes from an artesian source due to intra-formation pressure.
The fountain was created in 1976. While searching for iron ore, the drillers stumbled upon an underground river. The escaped stream of water was so powerful that all drilling work had to be stopped and the hole plugged. However, over time, the water broke through the plug. Then a new metal plug with holes was installed, resulting in a fountain.
The crystal dome is an unforgettable sight. The shape of the ice figure is different every year. It depends both on the direction of the wind and on the air temperature around. The blue color of the ice of the fountain has such an unusual appearance that some tourists are inclined to believe that someone tinted it on purpose.
Curious tourists very often make a small hole in the block of ice, through which you can then see the stream of the fountain and what a "huge ice icicle" looks like from the inside. And some climbers even manage to do ice climbing here.
In summer, the fountain in the Zyuratkul National Park is a stream of icy water gushing from the ground. With the beginning of spring, the road to the crystal dome of the fountain becomes impassable. The fountain looks most grandiose at the end of February, it is at this time that its height becomes maximum.
Near the fountain there are specially equipped parking lots with tables, benches and fire pit. A small river starts from the fountain.
