The Wood Museum on the Curonian Spit is a small cultural institution that houses several amazing wooden sculptures.
Visitors to the Tree Museum on the Curonian Spit can see here bizarre sculptures of animals and birds made from ordinary trees. The museum's collection includes more than 40 wooden bells. The peculiarity of this museum is that each of the visitors can not only touch any exhibit they like, but also purchase it.
The museum exposition consists of carved figures and visitors are invited to guess what kind of wood they are made of. It is easy enough to recognize the Russian beauty (birch), Russian hero (oak), Grandmother with knitting (acacia), Grandmother with a tub of honey (linden), Forest woman (spruce), Musician (maple), Bather (pear), and Japanese woman (cherry). And with tips - Musketeer (chestnut) and Gypsy (mountain ash). And such trees as poplar, aspen and hornbeam are almost impossible to guess.
The Tree Museum on the Curonian Spit is housed in a two-storey wooden house. There are several wooden benches next to it.
There is a fee to visit the museum, but it's worth it. In addition, commemorative photographs against the background of museum exhibits are also paid. The museum has a guide - the owner of the gallery, Evgeny Alexandrovich Tarasov, who can tell entertaining stories about the history and character of each sculpture.
There is a souvenir shop at the "Museum of Wood" on the Curonian Spit, where you can buy various wooden crafts, boxes, figurines and candlesticks.
