Description of the attraction
More than three centuries ago, the lands of the Mamayeva Sloboda were in the possession of the Mikhailovsky Golden-Domed Monastery. At this place there was a monastery apiary, a farm and a pond. Now, surrounded by curly cherry orchards, surrounded by wattle fences, the Cossack "Sloboda" is spread out.
The architectural ensemble has about a hundred objects, with the wooden Cossack Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos in the center, makes an indelible impression. Three domes and a bell tower of the church, similar to the one that decorated the Zaporozhye Sich in the era of Bohdan-Zinovy Khmelnitsky, attracts great attention.
Not far from the Cossack church, among a small wheat field, you can see a windmill symbolizing a peaceful agricultural Ukraine. On the banks of two picturesque ponds, overgrown with reeds and water lilies, there were estates where the ktitor (church headman), Cossack-Jura, Cossack foreman, blacksmith with a smithy, a potter with a pottery workshop, and shinok lived. There is also a water mill and an apiary. Various household structures are scattered in the backyards: barns, barns, cellars, haylings, sheds, stables, etc. This traditional rural look for Ukraine is complemented by the market square (maidan), the Cossack outpost and the building of the military office.
All objects of the scansen "Mamaeva Sloboda" were created with the aim of using them for the revival of living history, ie. extremely close to its functional purpose, namely, to recreate and popularize authentic folk traditions, rituals, forgotten original crafts and work skills. The thematic arboretum, officially named "the corner of Ukrainian life, nature and architecture" Mamaeva Sloboda ", was erected as a reminder of the past of the Ukrainian people.
