The memorial museum-office of academician Sergei Nametkin is located in Moscow on Leninsky Prospekt and is located on the territory of the A. V. Topchev of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The museum is a non-profit institution, and visits are possible by prior arrangement.

The main task of the museum is to preserve and study the heritage of this prominent Soviet scientist in the field of organic chemistry and petrochemistry. The creation of the museum within the walls of the institute was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Semenovich Nametkin. The museum conducts excursions, during which visitors are told about the life and scientific activities of the academician, as well as how his legacy is reflected in the works of students.

Sergei Semenovich Nametkin lived and worked in Moscow in the first half of the last century. He moved to the capital from Kazan. After graduating from the gymnasium, he studied at Moscow State University, then taught there and taught classes at the Moscow Higher Courses for Women. After defending his master's thesis in St. Petersburg, he was elected professor of the Department of Organic Chemistry at the MVZhK, and after defending his doctoral thesis he headed the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics there.

In 1918, the courses were transformed into the 2nd Moscow State University, and a year later Sergei Nametkin became its rector, although he worked in this position for only five years, but remained to teach there.

In the 1920s and 1930s, Sergei Nametkin held leading positions and taught at the State Oil Institute, at the Oil Faculty of the Mining Academy, the Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology, and Moscow University. In 1932 he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences, seven years later - its full member. In the last two years before his death in 1950, Sergei Nametkin headed the Oil Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Under the leadership of Nametkin, research was carried out on the creation of new fuels and lubricants, the study of the composition of oil from different fields of the Soviet Union. Academician Nametkin's scientific activity was awarded two Stalin Prizes, the Order of Lenin and three times - the Orders of the Red Banner of Labor.
