Description of the attraction

The Museum of Perfumery Art was opened in 2009 in the very center of Moscow. It is located in the building of Gostiny Dvor, on Ilyinka Street. The founder of the museum was the New Zarya perfume factory.

The New Zarya factory was founded in 1864. For many decades it was the leading perfumery production in Russia. At the beginning of the twentieth century, it was the largest in Europe. The Novaya Zarya factory was founded by Heinrich Brocard, a court supplier of the Russian imperial court and the Spanish royal court. The sign of the factory was decorated with three state emblems and 24 medals, eight of which were gold. Gold was awarded to Brocard's products at foreign and domestic perfumery exhibitions. Nowadays, the Novaya Zarya factory is in the process of reviving the traditions of Brocard. Among them are such important product qualities as quality, comfort and originality.

On the ground floor there is a shop. There are two museum halls on the second floor. The first hall is dedicated to the art of perfumery, the peculiarities of this art in different periods of development in different countries. The second hall of the museum is completely devoted to the history of the perfume factory "New Zarya". Here you can get acquainted not only with different aromas, but also with different technologies for the production of perfume compositions. In the second hall of the museum you can see unique items of perfumery and perfumery art. A rare perfume bottle, 60 centimeters high, is exhibited here. More than a hundred years ago, he decorated the window of one of the capital's perfume shops.

At the time of the founding of the perfume factory "New Zarya", perfumes were sold in pharmacies. Many of the first Russian perfumers were pharmacists. The heyday of Russian perfumery came at the end of the nineteenth century. Henri Brocard, founder of Novaya Zarya, was the supplier of the Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna. He created the famous fragrance "The Empress's Favorite Bouquet". The fragrance was created to celebrate the three hundredth anniversary of the Romanov dynasty. In Soviet times, the fragrance began to be called "Krasnaya Moskva".
