Description of the attraction

The largest river station in Russia and Europe is located in Volgograd, on the central embankment of the city. The author of the building project was the Leningrad architect Timofey Sadovsky. The length of the river port building is about three hundred meters (identical to the length of Red Square in Moscow), the width is 36 meters, and the height of the upper point of the structure (washer) is 47 meters. Six motor ships can moor to the port at the same time, and the waiting room inside the building will comfortably accommodate more than 700 people.

The construction of the river station was carried out in two stages: first of all, moorings were erected on the reclaimed territory and a waiting room (early 1980s), and later the Central Concert Hall was completed (1989), which allowed the river station to become, in addition to the transport, the cultural center of the city. The capacity of the concert hall, where organ music evenings are held, is about a thousand seats. Also on the territory of the river station there are: a restaurant (in the panoramic part of the building - a puck), a cafe, a fitness room and nightclubs.

The river station is the main entrance to the city from the Volga and an integral point of the tourist cruise route along the Volga. It is from the building of the river port that all the memorable sights of the hero-city Volgograd begin. Together with the beautiful embankment, the station building is a decoration and cultural attraction of the city, as well as a place for recreation and entertainment for guests and residents of the city.
